Oil on canvas, 30 in. x 50 in.
The client asked for a representation of Christ’s appearances to his disciples during the 40 days following Easter. In the upper right is the first appearance to Mary Magdalene in the garden. In the upper right, the appearance to the disciples who were fishing. Below that, the appearance to the disciples in the upper room, and the image of Thomas feeling the wound of Christ. The bottom of the painting show the appearance of Christ to the disciples he met on the road to Emmaus. Gold leaf runs through the painting, always in the back-space of the apostles, framing each image individually but also bringing the whole painting together.
